How we build it right

The process behind concrete sidewalks & walkways built to last

Credibility comes from how it's built, not from promises. Here's the order of operations on every concrete sidewalks & walkways job.

01

Subgrade on red clay

We prep and compact the subgrade over Georgia red clay so the path holds its line instead of rising and dropping panel by panel as the soil wets and dries on the slope.

02

4-inch thickness

A walkway is poured at 4 inches, the standard for foot traffic, with steel sized to the run where it earns its place.

03

Joint spacing

Control joints are spaced so the slab has planned seams to travel along as the red clay below it shifts through the seasons.

04

Slope and root planning

We set the pitch so a downpour runs off the path rather than ponding, and where the route passes mature trees we plan the base and edge so root heave has less to push against.

05

Broom finish

A broom finish keeps footing sure through rain and the occasional ice.

Why Lucky's

The one you don't have to worry about

01

We answer, and we come back

Most contractors vanish after the deposit. We pick up the phone, show up when we say, and stand behind the work after the truck leaves. The follow-through is the difference.

02

Managed crews, our name on it

A foreman we know runs your job and a vetted crew does the work, managed by Lucky's, one company accountable from the first call to the final walkthrough.

03

Fully insured, paperwork-ready

COI and lien waivers on file before we break ground. The documentation that lets commercial clients pay and gives homeowners peace of mind.

04

Built right, not cheap

Prepped subgrade, reinforced and mixed to spec for the job, and proper curing. We build credibility through the process, not promises. On concrete sidewalks & walkways, that starts with subgrade on red clay.

FAQ

Atlanta concrete sidewalks & walkways, answered

How much does a concrete walkway cost in Atlanta?

Sidewalks and walkways get priced off width, thickness, and the red-clay base work, plus the pitch and grippy finish that Georgia's downpours demand. Most open in the range of $8 to $13 per square foot. Walking the run lets us put a number to it.

Can you fix a trip hazard instead of replacing the whole walk?

Often yes. A single panel pushed up by red clay or a tree root can frequently be ground down or swapped rather than redoing the whole run. We read the cause first, then point you to the right fix.

Why has my sidewalk lifted at the joints?

Red clay swelling and shrinking with the rains and dry spells shoves panels up unevenly, and the metro's mature roots add plenty to it. We rework the base and the joint layout on the repair so it doesn't simply lift again in the same place.

Can you build ADA-compliant ramps?

Yes. Ramps and approaches go in at the slope and finish accessibility calls for, with a grippy texture meant for wet and icy mornings. Share how it will be used and we build the ramp around that.

How are the joints spaced on a walkway?

Joint spacing is set against slab width and thickness so movement stays managed, since too few joints is where uncontrolled cracking starts, and red clay swelling under tree roots gives no slack on it.

How long before I can walk on a new sidewalk?

Foot traffic usually waits a few days while the slab gains strength, a bit longer in heavy humidity. We give you the exact timeline for your pour up front.
